Altaris invests in companies that operate across the healthcare
continuum, including the pharmaceuticals, medical devices,
healthcare services and healthcare IT sectors. We target
businesses with strong management teams that are generating
revenue and positive cash flow, and that will benefit from
our expertise and network of relationships within the healthcare
industry. In analyzing investment prospects, our primary
focus is on sector dynamics and business fundamentals, including
historical financial performance and prospects for profitable
growth, whether organic or through acquisitions.
Most of our portfolio companies have one or more of the
following characteristics:
- Strong intellectual property;
- Industry transforming business models;
- Value investing characteristics.
We make control and significant minority investments that
typically range in size from $15-50 million of equity. Our
investment approach is flexible and creative, but the most
common types of transactions in which we participate include:
- Corporate carve-outs;
- Leveraged buyouts;
- Growth equity/recapitalization investments.
